Frances
CUMBERLAND - Frances "Nardy" Lippold, 88, of Cumberland, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Lonaconing, on Nov. 1, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Frances (Grimes) and Terence Woods. Nardy was the youngest of ten children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband the late Richard Lippold whom she married on Oct. 24, 1953; daughter, Beverly Lippold; son, Terry Lippold; son-in-law, Jack Lease; granddaughter, Shayne Turner; and great-grandson, Zach Godlove.
Nardy was a graduate of Central High School in Lonaconing. Following high school, she graduated from Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing. Nardy was a Registered Nurse for 43 years. She was a member of St. Patrick, Our Lady of the Mountains Parish. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing Alumni. She loved swimming, but real love of her life was being a nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital. She hated the fact that she was no longer able to physically manage the work of a nurse, and she retired from the hospital in 1996. Throughout her career, she made several close friendships, and she maintained these friendships in retirement. She would attend monthly luncheons and annual dinners with her nursing family.
Nardy is survived by her daughters, Frannie Lease, Mary Stevens, and Paula Lippold (John); sons, Rick , Mike, and Pete (Sandy) Lippold; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Lippold; grandchildren, Rich Godlove (Amy), Jeff Delaney (Cathy), Aundrea White (Bob), Beverley Shipe (Justin), Elizabeth Lippold (Amanda), Amanda Lippold (Lyric), Brittany Wallizer (Eli), Austin, Morgan, Mason Lippold, Tanner Lippold (Tayler), Joshua Lippold, and Charlene Mull; great-grandchildren, Noah Godlove Turner, Bailey Godlove, Brayken Godlove, Myla Sines, Jeffrey Delaney, Jessie White, Jacob and Ella Shipe, and Macy Wallizer; great-great-grandchildren, Aidri Godlove, and Zayden Marvin. Nardy is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2019 ,from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Cumberland.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Nardy's memory may do so by making contributions to Our Lady of the Mountains Parish or the Western Maryland Health System.
