Oakland, Maryland - Francis Leo "Frenchie" Grimm, age 87, passed away peacefully on Feb. 3, 2026. He was born on Dec. 4, 1938, in Frostburg, Md., to the late Andrew Joseph Grimm and Anna (Miller) Grimm.

Francis was the devoted husband of Rita C. (Meagher) Grimm, his beloved wife of 64 years. Together they built a life rooted in family, loyalty and love. He was a proud father to three children, Denise Appel (Scott), Mark Grimm (Priscilla Patton) and Kimberly Weimer (Mike).

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph Grimm and Ronnie Grimm. He is survived by his siblings, Marian VanMeter of Baltimore, John Grimm of Annapolis, and Paul Grimm of Salisbury.

Frenchie was a 1957 graduate of Fort Hill High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Frenchie dedicated 40 years of his professional life as an executive in lending at First United National Bank and Trust, where he contributed significantly to the bank's growth and success. Outside of work, he was an avid golfer who found great joy on the course. For nearly two decades, he and Rita cherished their winter months in Myrtle Beach, where they spent countless happy days golfing and enjoying time together.

To his grandchildren, he was lovingly known as "Pap Frenchie" or "Little Pap." He is survived by his grandchildren, Bryson Appel, Dylan Appel, Logan Appel, Raeslee Dick, Kamrin Smith and AJ Grimm, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Noah, Archer, Wrenlee and Walker, who brought him immense pride and joy.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice and Cindy's Fund, in honor of Frenchie's life and care.

In accordance with Frenchie's wishes, the family will be planning a Celebration of Life at a later date.
