Garry Lee Orndorff
Garry Lee Orndorff arrived in Heaven singing and shouting on Oct. 5 2019, from Kane Nursing Center, McKeesport, Pa.
Born, in Romney, on May 26, 1941, he was the son of Gladys Shanholtz and Ivan "Duffy" Orndorff.
He attended Romney High School and Lord Fairfax Community College. He attained in rank of Specialist T-4 in his four years of Army service, stationed at Fort Benning, Ga.
Garry was employed for most of his career in law enforcement, having served as an officer for Winchester, Va., and Frederick County, Va. He was also police chief for both Paw Paw and Middletown, Va. He was also employed in private investigations.
Garry was complex and multifaceted; outspoken on as many subjects as he was versed in, which were vast. He was totally his own person and lived life on his own terms. Garry loved all things history, and devoured books on the subject. He was also a talented vocalist and guitar player, having headed a few bands in his time. He was proud of having "jammed" with Asleep at the Wheel, when they rolled through West Virginia many, many years ago. Hunting and fishing were a passion for him. He loved his time in the woods and on the river.
Garry leaves behind his ex-wife, Carolyn "June" Orndorff, Frostburg Nursing and Rehab; his daughter, Tanya Kessell and husband, Randy, who Garry loved as a son, Mount Savage; his son, Mark Orndorff and his son's ex-fiancé, Lisa Bohrer Dorsey, who he always thought of as a daughter; three grandchildren, whom he thought hung the moon and stars, Michael "Feller" Kessell and girlfriend, Chelsea Carr, Courtney Tipton and husband, Dave, all of Mount Savage, and Samantha "Sammi" Orndorff of Flintstone; his great-granddaughter, Avery Tipton, Mount Savage; and his sister, Diana Parker, Romney.
A memorial service will be conducted at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019, at 5 p.m. with Pastor Rick Riley, husband of Garry's niece, officiating. Guests will be received one hour prior to the memorial service.
To honor Garry's love of music and kids, in lieu of flowers, please make donation in Garry's name to: "Beyond the Stage Foundation," 16 Maple Street, Frostburg MD, 21532.

Tanya and Mark...Praying for peace, strength, and grace for you and your families today and all the days ahead. Death separates us physically from those we love, but can never break the bonds of the heart. May the memory of your Dad's love be with you always.
