McCoole, MD - MCCOOLE [mdash] Gary Dale Hamilton Sr., 85, of McCoole, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025, at WVU Medicine Potomac Valley Hospital in Keyser, W.Va.

Born on April 5, 1940, in Rawlings, Gary was a son of the late Renix and Polly (Gordon) Hamilton. He also was preceded in death by his son, Gary Dale Hamilton Jr.

Gary was a 1959 graduate of Bruce High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1959-1963; was discharged from the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1965, and was a life member of Nancy Hanks Post # 3518, VFW, Keyser.

He was employed for many years with Laborer's International Union, Local 616, Cumberland, MD. He retired from Columbia Gas of Maryland, but Gary enjoyed working, so much so, that he even continued to work hard after his retirement.

He loved watching the World Wide Wrestling Federation matches on television.

Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Linda Lou (Riggleman) Hamilton; his daughter, Regina Sutherland, of Burlington, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Gary D. Hamilton III; Vince Hamilton and wife, Misty; Tara and Brandi Hamilton; Autumn Kimble and husband, Zack; and Amber Hott and husband, Brian; and five great grandchildren, McKinley, Willow and Miley Hamilton, Reese Kimble and Cherish Hott. Also surviving is his brother, Terry Lee Hamilton and wife, Karen, of Rawlings; a sister-in-law, Betty McClintock, and her family of McCoole; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted immediately following the visitation at 4 p.m. with his daughter, Regina Sutherland and Bubby Redman conducting the service.

Private inurnment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
