Gary B. Logsdon Obituary

Fort Ashby, WV - Gary B. Logsdon, of Fort Ashby, passed away May 8, 2026, at home surrounded by his family.

Born May 7, 1940, in Patterson Creek, he was the son of the late George and Gladys (Long) Logsdon.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Logsdon, sister, Marjorie Brookshire, and a grandson, Nathaniel Logsdon.

Gary was a 1959 graduate of Fort Ashby High School.

He worked at Westvaco for 37 years, retiring in 2003.

He belonged to Mineral Baptist Church.

Gary enjoyed gardening, mowing, and above all else, spending time with his family. He also enjoyed hunting season at the cabin and helping his nephew, Dan, on the farm. As a proud Pap, he attended as many activities as possible. As a parent, Gary was always there for his children, day or night. He never met a stranger and was well known for his kindness and storytelling.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years, Carol Jean (Alt) Logsdon; four children, Jeff Logsdon (Alison), Tom Logsdon, Cheryl Engle (Allen), and Alan Logsdon (Becky); grandchildren, Zac Phares (Holly), Megan Lynch (Sam), Carita Mills (Matt), Caleb Logsdon (Brooke), Kristen Logsdon, Chase Engle (Alexa), and Jacob Logsdon (Makenna), nine great grandchildren; a brother, John Logdson (Betty); and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Fort Ashby, on Wednesday from 5-8 PM.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1 PM in Mineral Baptist Church, with Pastor Kris Lengel, officiating.

Interment will be in Mineral Baptist Church Cemetery.
