George Clifton Loar
LAVALE - George Clifton Loar, 96, of LaVale, died Nov. 30, 2019, at Sterling Care Frostburg Village.
Born Dec. 27, 1922, in LaVale, he was the son of the late Richard J. and Eva I. (Porter) Loar. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth (Ogilvie) Loar; and two brothers, Richard and Ellsworth Loar.
Survivors include his nephew, Richard H. Loar Jr. and son, Jason; niece, Mary Ann Barb and husband, Charles, their children, Chuck, Gary, and Julia; godson, Homer Martz; and special friend, Joan Bosley.
He was a 1940 graduate of Allegany High School. Cliff also graduated from Potomac State College, in 1948, having studied business.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Loar was retired from PPG Industries, where he was a purchasing agent.
He was a lifelong member of Park Place United Methodist Church. Since 1955, Mr. Loar was a member of Potomac Lodge 100, A.F. & A.M. He also belonged to Salem Chapter 18, R.A.M., Ali Ghan Shrine, where he served as treasurer from 1976 to 1991, and was a member of the Motor Corps Unit; past president of Tri-State Traffic Club; and past secretary of Allegany County Chapter of Appalachian Thruway Association.
Mr. Loar donated his body to the Maryland Anatomy Board for medical research.
A memorial service and inurnment will be held at a later date.

I am so sorry for the passing of Kip as I knew him for forty some years..
He was a wonderful Christian Man and a friend to everyone. He will be so missed by many. Again I send my thoughts and prayers. Love to all.
