George Mitchell
George Mitchell "Mitch" Saville, 66, of Fort Ashby, W.Va., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sept. 12, 2019, after a nine year battle with colon cancer.
Born Nov. 16, 1952, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late George Willard and Merle Ann (Shears) Saville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Wanda Riley and Autumn "Mickey" Richards; and his favorite pups, Zippy and Sasha.
He was a 1970 graduate of Fort Ashby High School. Mitch retired from the Mineral County Courthouse with 37 years of service.
He was a member of Graceland Baptist Church. An avid car fanatic and a jokester, he enjoyed making others smile and laugh.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Donna Kay (Landis) Saville; two sons, Jeremy Wade Saville and wife, Joyce Ann, and Ian Mitchell Saville and wife, Mary Pauline, all of Fort Ashby; four grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Lillian Marie, Memphis Gearld Wade, Kylee Marian, and Kamryn Olivia Saville; a sister, Betty Hott and husband, Earl, of Augusta; and many friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
At his request, he will be cremated.
Friends will be received on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019, at Graceland Baptist Church from 2 to 4 p.m.
A celebration of life service will follow at 4 p.m. with Pastor Dan Twigg officiating.
The family would like to thank Dr. Yin, Dr. Chisholm, Dr. Livengood, the staff at WMHS and Potomac Valley Hospital, and WVU Hospice for all of the care and compassion they have shown him over the years. Special thanks to Tina, Lorre, and Shelia for going above and beyond these past several weeks.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to either Graceland Baptist Church, 5121 Frankfort Hwy., Ridgeley, WV 26753; or to the Schwab Family Cancer Center, 12500 Willowbrook Rd., Cumberland MD 21502.
Mitch was an amazing person who will be missed more than he realized.
