Cumberland, Maryland - Gerald "Jerry" Roy Hockman, 84, of Cumberland, Md., passed away Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at his home with his family by his side.

Born Dec. 20, 1940, in Cumberland, Mr. Hockman was the son of the late George Wesley Hockman and Goldie Madelyn (Heartsock) Hockman. He was also preceded in death by his first wife of 48 years, JoAnne Hockman; and his second wife, Sally Hockman.

Jerry worked at Schmidt's Bakery in Cumberland for over 32 years. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and especially growing his Iris farm. He also loved building houses and cabins for his family.

Jerry is survived by his wife of six years, Bonnie Tipton; his children, Steve and wife Diane, David and wife Janice, Tim and wife Lisa, and Lori Russell and husband Tony; his daughter-in-law, Cathy; his grandchildren, Krissy, Mandy, Scott, Tina, Chase, Logan, Nathan, Megan and Little Tony; as well as numerous great-grandchildren; and his beloved cat, Miss Kitty.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, MD, www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com, on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. Services will follow at 6 p.m., with Chaplain Seth Wharton officiating.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Chaplain Seth Wharton, Jennifer and Linda from UPMC Palliative Care, and UPMC Western Maryland Home Hospice, especially Christy, Brittany and Candy; his family members, Melissa and John Abernathy; as well as the many special friends who kept Jerry company and comfortable during his last weeks at home; and especially Tony and Little Tony for sitting with him during his final hours.
