Gladys Gaye Flesher, 84, of Grafton, W.Va., passed away on Friday, April 12, 2019, surrounded by her family, following a brief illness.
Gladys was born in Turner Douglas, W.Va., on Sept. 12, 1934, a daughter of the late George W. and Grace E. Bowser Alexander.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy G. Flesher, on Aug. 14, 2010.
Surviving are four sons, John R. Pomraning and wife, Brenda of Grafton, Billy D. Flesher and wife, Tammie of Bridgeport, Leslie "Lec" Flesher and wife, Kim of Grafton, and Richard Brooks Flesher and wife, Carolyn of Grafton; and one daughter, Teresa L. Faulkiner and husband, Steve of Grafton.
She was grandmother to 10 grandchildren, Kurtis Pomraning, Erin Pomraning, Stephanie Faulkiner, Sarah Ford, Courtney Flesher, Jedd Flesher, Hilary Riffle, Derek Setler, Eli Flesher, and Jack Flesher; and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Howard Alexander and wife, Barb of Smithburg; three sisters, Juanita Shaffer and husband, Bud of Oakland, Charlotte Boggs and husband, Herb of Smithburg, and Norma Gallagher of Morgantown, W.Va.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Gladys was preceded in death by three brothers, Dayton, Russell, and Robert Alexander; and three sisters, Mary Rose, Freda Stout, and Winona Alexander.
Mrs. Flesher was Catholic by faith and was a graduate of Garrett Southern High School in Oakland, MD.
She was a homemaker for most of her life, and after raising her children, she worked for Hoke Funeral Home in Grafton. Gladys was a former member of the Women of the Moose and VFW Women's Auxiliary. She loved antiquing.
There will be no public visitation, per her request.
Graveside services will be held at West Virginia National Cemetery, 42 Veterans Memorial Lane, Grafton, on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at 10 a.m. with David Arnold presiding.
