Harold F.
Harold F. "Jack" Burkett, 86, of Short Gap, W.Va., passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020, surrounded by his family and friends, at Western Maryland Health System.
Born in Points, W.Va., on May 26, 1933, he was the son of the late Howard and May (Brown) Burkett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Bonnie (Herbaugh) Burkett, and his sister, Leonra Burkett.
Jack was an employee of the CSX Transportation Company until his retirement. He was an outdoorsmen who loved to hunt. In his early days, he enjoyed fishing with his family. Jack was a faithful member of Old Furnace Church of the Brethren.
He is survived by his children, Gregory Burkett and Debra Burkett; brother, James Burkett and wife, Shirley; two sisters, Helen Hines and husband, Wayne, and Sue Saville and husband, Hank; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at Old Furnace Church of the Brethren, Ridgeley, W.Va., on Monday, Jan. 20, 2020, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the church immediately following the visitation at 1 p.m. with Pastor Ed Weaver and Wallace Whitacre officiating. Interment will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Jack's memory may do so by making contributions to Old Furnace Church of the Brethren, 188 Old Furnace Road, Ridgeley, WV 26753.

Is this the Jack Burkett who worked for the B&O Rail Road in the Maint. Dept. and lived close to the turn off on Pinto Road in Short Gap. Would love to know.
