Cresaptown, MD - Harold C. Pennington, 88, of Cresaptown, Md., went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Sunday, June 15, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born on July 8, 1936, in Eglon, W.Va., he was the son of the late Claudius and Eva (Helmick) Pennington. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Catherine Pennington; his son, Thomas Pennington; his daughter, Judy Pennington-Sharp; two brothers, and four sisters.
He graduated in 1954 from Aurora High School, Aurora, W.Va. Then went on to work for Hazelwood Construction followed by a career with the Kelly Springfield Tire Co in Cumberland, Md. Upon retirement he started his own contracting company H.C. Pennington Contracting.
Harold loved spending time with his family. Also spending time in the outdoors especially hunting, camping, and farming at the family farm in Eglon, W.Va. He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Cresaptown with his wife and family for many years.
Harold is survived by his children, Patricia Brown and husband Jeffrey, Debra Geoff, and Paul Pennington and wife Teresa Copenhaver; two granddaughters that he helped raise, Shannon Frankenberry, and Michelle Nies; an additional 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren; and one sister, JoAnn Pennington.
Family and friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, on Wednesday, June 18 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Thursday, June 19 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. a funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. with Pastor Bruce McBride and Pastor Daniel Twigg officiating.
Interment will be in Eglon Community Cemetery in Eglon, W.Va. next to the love of his life, Catherine.
