Accident, Maryland - Helen Marie Fike, 86, of Accident, Md., passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Garrett Regional Medical Center, Oakland, Md., where she was being cared for by hospital staff, with hospice joining in with her care on July 6, 2026.

Born Oct. 7, 1939, in Grantsville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Walter "Leonard" and Mabel (Deal) Haenftling. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 66 2/3 years, James "Jim" Fike, whom she married Feb. 16, 1958.

Helen was a homemaker her whole life, taking care of her kids and then later her Aunt Ruthie and Uncle Buzz Fike. She helped her mom for many years with a bake sale on summer weekends. She graduated from Northern High School and was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Accident.

Helen loved traveling, especially to Alaska, Hawaii and all over the United States. Her passion was collecting glass of all kinds, including a lot of Fenton Glass, but mostly she liked collecting bells of all kinds.

She is survived by three children: two sons, Allen Fike and wife, Tamara (Chadwell), Fairmont, W.Va., Gary Fike, Accident; one daughter, Linda Meyers and husband Earl, Accident; three siblings: two sisters, Hazel Haenftling, Ridgeley, W.Va.; Freda Border and husband Robert, Mount Airy, Md.; one brother, George Haenftling and wife Bonnie (Westbrook), Accident; multiple nieces and nephews, including Kevin Haenftling, who was a special nephew to Helen.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, MD, on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Peter Suwak, who provided comfort and prayer during her passing, officiating. Interment will be in the St. Paul's Cemetery, Accident.
