James "Ed" Edward Lindner Obituary

Cumberland, Maryland - James "Ed" Edward Lindner, 85, of Cumberland, Md., passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Allegany Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born May 25, 1940, in Cumberland, Md., Mr. Lindner was the son of the late Lawrence Andrew Lindner and Lucille (Donahoe) Lindner. He was also preceded by the love of his life of 64 years, Barbara "Barbie" Ann Lindner; two sisters; a brother; and a great-granddaughter, Paisley Grace Lindner.

Ed attended LaSalle High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a former employee of Kelly Springfield Tire and Rubber Co. and retired from the Allegany County Roads Department.

Ed was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, enjoyed gardening and especially liked planting potatoes. For many years, he went to shooting matches at the sportsman's club and was always a big winner. He was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Parish.

Ed is survived by his daughters, Tina Hankinson and husband Dale, Lisa Clark and husband Donald; his son, James Edward Lindner II and wife Melinda; his grandchildren, Drew Hankinson and wife Bethany, Dustin Hankinson, Ellisha Daddysman and husband Jason, Amanda Davis and husband Brian, Anna Weisenmiller and husband Jeremy, James Edward Lindner III and wife Erica, and Olivia Shryock and husband David; his great-grandchildren, Jamison, Cade, Isaac, Blake, Bella, Elias, Norah, Lincoln, Nash, Alex, Luke, Lorelai and Thomas Dale, and Dean Thomas; and his sisters, Rose Marie Murray and Ann Bennett; a special nephew, Chris Bennett; and numerous nieces and nephews; as well as his favorite canine companion, Buddy.

Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, MD, www.adamsfamilyfuneralhome.com, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from noon to 1 p.m.

A committal service will follow at 2 p.m. at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap, with Deacon Ryan Schmeltzer officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Post #13 Veteran's Honor Guard.
