Beavercreek, Ohio - James "Jim" Lawrence Meyers Sr., age 81, of Midland, Md., passed away Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025, in Centerville, Ohio.
He was born March 12, 1944, in Lonaconing, Md., the son of the late John Frederick and Mary Josephine (McGann) Meyers.
In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Jean "Jeanie" (Devlin) Meyers; sister, Margaret "Margie" Marie Rymer and her husband, Gary; brothers, Jack Meyers and his wife Marg, and Fred Meyers; brothers-in-law, Frank Gavin, John Mertz and Bill "Smitty" Smith; nephews, Francis and Michael Mertz; niece, Margie "Scooter" Meyers; great-nephew, Jack Mertz; mother and father-in-law, Jean and Daniel Devlin; beloved grandparents-in-law, Adele "Nana" (Reed) Angle and William "Pappy" Angle.
Jim is survived by his children, James L. Meyers Jr. (Rebecca), Joe Meyers (Jeff McCann), Janice Myers (Mike) and Jennifer Sciple (Jerry); 12 grandchildren, Mikhaila Meyers Leffler, Michael (Madisyn), Nicholas, William, Olivia, Alexandra (Aria), Cecilia (Fred), Havilah and John Frederick Myers, Blake Meyers, Katelyn (Jeremiah) Kirby and Christopher Sciple; seven great-grandchildren, Owen, Theo, Michael "Cole", Fox, Rosemary, Cassian and Haven; siblings, Joan Gavin, Mary Anne Mertz and Francis Meyers (Mary Anne); and sisters-in-law, Carol (Devlin) Ritchie, Karen (Devlin) Dixon and Lana Meyers. He leaves behind many other beloved nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and dear friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his dear friend, Sheila Kwest, for all of her care and assistance. They would also like to thank the caring staff at Bethany Village who made all the difference in the world.
Jim graduated from St. Joseph's Grade School in Midland, then LaSalle High School Class of 1962 in Cumberland, Md.
He was a past president for Midland Fire Company 18, where he organized their Thursday Bingo and met the love of his life, Jeanie Devlin. They were married on Sept. 4, 1965. They were longtime members of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He worked for People's Drugstore in LaVale, A&P Market in Lonaconing, Kelly Springfield Tire Company in Cumberland, and was later transferred to Topeka, Kansas, with Goodyear.
In his free time, Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and tinkering in his workshop. He took pride in his elaborate yard displays for Christmas and often competed and placed in the Topeka Christmas Decorating Contest.
In his later years, he would never be seen in public without his cowboy hat. Jim loved joking around, and would often say, "Be safe, have fun, and don't get caught."

A Memorial Mass for Jim and Jeanie will be held on Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, at 11 a.m., at St. Michael Catholic Church, 44 E. Main St., Frostburg, MD 21532. They will be laid to rest at St. Michael Cemetery following the Mass. A Celebration of Life will follow inurnment at St. Michael's Church.
