James E. "Dimps" Schramm, 68, of Barton, passed away March 20, 2025, following a courageous fight against cancer.

Born Oct. 28, 1956, he was the son of the late Harold and A. Delberta (Fazenbaker) Schramm. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Delbert and Delphi (Miller) Fazenbaker and William and Elizabeth (Brown) Schramm; his brother, William Schramm; niece; Marsha Broadwater; great-nieces, Jessica and Elizabeth Metz; and his former wife, Kathi Schramm.

Jim was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Barton. He attended Sunday School at the church from the age of three. He was a 1974 graduate of Valley High School. He was previously employed with Hunter Douglas, Bayliner and the Barton Firehall as a bartender.

As a young man, Jim loved his time spent in little league. Jim was an old soul, he enjoyed watching the old western movies. He was calm and laid back and enjoyed time reading and educating his brain. Jim spent many hours on the bar stool with a drink talking with his friends. He liked being involved with the pool league and playing horseshoes. Jim loved taking trips to Ocean City, camping at Savage and attending Jamboree in the Hills.

Jim died on the first day of spring. Spring is a sign of new life. Jim has now begun his new life in Heaven with his Lord and Savior.

Jim is survived by his son, Edward Schramm and wife Shawna; his granddaughters, Reece and Kira; and his siblings, Margaret "Margie" Broadwater and husband Stanley, Barbara DeShong and husband Dwight and John Schramm and wife Marla. Jim is survived by his uncles, Joseph Schramm and Ellis Fazenbaker; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Scott, Bruce, Linda, Marty, Harrison and Drew; and many friends and bartenders at the Barton Legion.

At Jim's request, he will be cremated and no services will take place. He will be buried at Laurel Hill Cemetery along with his parents.

Jim's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of those who took such great care of him during his illness. The staff at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Dr. Shannon and the Cancer Center in Keyser, UPMC Western Maryland, UPMC Shadyside, UPMC Presbyterian, Devlin Manor Rehab and Mountain City Rehab.

Jim's family would also like to thank all of those who helped, organized and donated to the benefit for Jim.
