Janet Anderson Obituary

LaVale, Maryland - Janet was welcomed into this world by her parents, Dan and Betty Rice, and her sister, Marjorie, in Silver Spring, Md. As a child, Janet enjoyed time with her grandmother, Florence Rice, and trips to the family cottage at the Bay. She shined her light brightly as she participated in church activities, Girl Scouts, and later, dance, theatre and babysitting.

Janet married her high school sweetheart, Chris, whom she met in 11th grade at Robert E. Perry High School. They would go on to celebrate 52 years of marriage, have two children, Greg and Lori, and live in or near five different Maryland Parks with Chris' job (Sandy Point, Gunpowder Falls, Tuckahoe, Patapsco and Rocky Gap).

Janet graduated from Meredith College with a degree in home economics and poured her time into her kids and a career that included church ministry, childcare and education.

Janet delighted in her marriage, her children and grandchildren, and her deep faith. She showered friends, family and strangers alike with attention that made you feel like you were the most important thing going on in the world. Janet fought a heart-wrenching battle with Alzheimer's for over 14 years. Her sweet spirit shone through even as the disease progressed.

Janet leaves behind her husband, Chris; and children, Greg Anderson (Lisa) and Lori Dziedziak (Mike); and her grandchildren, Elizabeth Anderson, Bronson and Justin Platter, and Grant and Andrew Dziedziak; and her sister, Marjorie Scuderi (John); and beloved nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Janet's life at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, 2026, at Rocky Gap State Park, Lakeview Shelter. We will be wearing yellow, Janet's favorite color, in celebration of how brightly her life shined on earth and her new life in heaven.

In lieu of flowers, gifts to the Alzheimer's Association would be deeply appreciated.

Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., is assisting the family.
