LaVale, Maryland - Janet Elaine (Wright) Glass, 88, of LaVale, Md., passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, at her home.

Born Aug. 2, 1937, in Cumberland, Md., Janet was the daughter of the late J. Earl Cook and Mary C. Wright. She was also preceded in death by her grandsons, Brandon W. Haney and Chad Albright.

Janet graduated from Allegany High School in 1955. As a young woman, she worked at Footers Cleaners when a young, handsome man in a uniform walked in and she realized she met the love of her life, Elwood. They were married on Sept. 28, 1957, and were married for 68 years. They had three children together.

Janet was the owner of Jan's Custodial Service. She loved her community of LaVale. She was a lector for services and volunteered for events at Christ Lutheran Church. Janet was involved as an election judge and volunteered with the American Heart Association.

She was heavily involved with the LaVale Lions as a Lionette, attending conventions, making dumplings for the Chicken BBQ and helping Elwood with the eyeglass collection, they worked together to provide for eyeglasses for the community and the preschool screening program.

Janet loved fishing and camping with her family at Deep Creek Lake, gardening, feeding the deer and turkeys around her home, and playing Words with Friends with her Facebook friends. Most of all, she loved her family and friends, and enjoyed traveling with her husband.

Janet's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the pride of her life.

Janet is survived by husband and the love of her life, Elwood Eugene Glass; her children, Kathy Coyle, Kay Haney (Dennis) and Eugene Glass (Donna); her nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, MD, www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com, on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Christ Lutheran Church, 1222 Vocke Road, LaVale, MD 21502, on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Daniel Swanson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Janet's name to the LaVale Lions Club, 1111 Braddock Road, Cumberland, MD 21502.
