Janet L. Growden Obituary

Janet L. Growden, 66, formerly of Bedford, Pa., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at the home of her daughter in Ridgeley, W.Va.

Janet was born in Bedford on Oct. 28, 1955, to the late Russell and Janet (Buxton) Otto.

On March 8, 1974, she married George R. Growden, who preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 2019.

She is survived by daughter, Brittany Shriver, wife of Michael; son, Eric Growden, husband of Ashley; two grandsons, Bradley and Jackson Growden; brother, Arthur Otto, husband of Janet; brother, Jay Otto; brother, George Otto; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Janet is preceded in death, along with her parents and husband, by brother, Fred Otto; brother, Russell Otto Jr; sister, Evelyn Carrol.

She also leaves behind her precious dog, Rascal.

Janet was a graduate of Bedford High School.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Janet was an avid gardener who loved being outdoors.

She enjoyed sewing, making homemade blankets, and all kinds of arts and crafts which she shared with family through the years.

Janet and her husband, George, were longtime members of the Cresaptown Eagles.

Janet was a resident of Cresaptown for 34 years where she worked as a waitress for more than 20 years at Bedford Springs, Hoss', State Line restaurant, Scampi's and D'Atri's.

She loved her family with every ounce of her being.

She will be sincerely missed by all.

The family extends our sincere thanks to Valley Health Home Care and WVU Hospice for their outstanding compassionate care.

Friends will be received at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, 330 East Pitt St., Bedford, Pa. 15522, on Thursday, May 12, from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Friday, May 13, from 10 a.m. to the hour of services at 11 a.m.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 13, at 11 a.m. at Louis Geisel Funeral Home with Father Richard Tomkosky officiating.

Burial will be in Bedford County Memorial Park immediately following funeral services.
