Short Gap, WV - SHORT GAP, W.Va. [mdash] Janet Frances Weaver, who was born Jan. 10, 1946, in Cumberland, Md., passed away Sunday, June 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at her residence in Short Gap, W.Va.

Janet was born to the late Lloyd Osa Brelsford and Frances Mae Brelsford (Didawick).

Janet deeply loved and is survived by her four sons, Mike of Jacksonville, Fla., Robert and wife Amy of Ridgeley, W.Va., Eric and wife Natasha of York, Pa., and Brian (Buck) and wife Crystal of Ridgeley, W.Va.; sister, Brenda Ackerman of McHenry, Md.; and brother, Doug Brelsford of Wiley Ford, W.Va. Janet is also survived by five grandchildren, Robbie, Phoebe, Megan, Jacob and Aiden.

Janet grew up in a large family and cherished her 27 first cousins.

Janet was a 1963 graduate of Fort Ashby High School and received education from Allegany College. Janet worked at the Celanese, International Beauty School, Cumberland, Md., and Carefirst Blue Cross/Blue Shield, from which she retired. Janet cherished many work friendships throughout her career. She was a dedicated and organized worker. She loved to train coworkers and help them succeed.

Janet was a lifelong member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church in Short Gap. She was director of VBS for many years, taught Sunday school and was president of the United Methodist Women for many years. Janet was an encouraging leader who appreciated people.

There will be a graveside service at Fort Ashby Cemetery on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Ann Merkel officiating.
