Englewood, Colorado - ENGLEWOOD, Colo. [mdash] Jean Allen Bennett passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, in Englewood.

She was born May 16, 1930, in Cumberland, Maryland, to Robert L. Allen and Odessa P. Allen (both deceased).

She graduated from Fort Hill High School, class of 1948, and married in 1953 to Fred Bennett (deceased), a classmate of six years. They moved to Baltimore, where Fred was employed by the Glenn L. Martin Co. He later accepted a position with the company in Denver in 1956. It became Martin Marietta and later, Lockheed Martin.

Jean and Fred had three children, Randall Bennett (deceased) (Gina); Joy Archibald; and Jed Bennett (deceased). They have five grandchildren; Brian Bennett (Christine), Bridget Bennett, Eric Bennett (Sara), Amy Juel (Matt) and Brendan Bennett. They also have eleven great grandchildren.

Jean was one of five children; Robert L. Allen Jr., (deceased) (Doris); B.G. (Ret.) Jearald Allen (Joann) (both deceased); Yvonne Athey, (Robert) (both deceased); and Kay Shambaugh (Frank) of Short Gap, W.Va. She has several nieces, nephews and cousins in the Maryland area.

Jean retired from Littleton Public Schools in 1990 where she was the administrative assistant to the principal and worked with students in the Drug and Alcohol Prevention program at Littleton High School. She later volunteered at Colorado Legal Services in Denver, where she did intake interviews.

She is preceded in death by Fred, her beloved husband that she married in 1953. Following retirement, she and Fred realized their dream of traveling and spent time in each of the 50 states, as well as 37 foreign countries.

She and Fred were active members of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. She will be buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver.
