Joan Ann Hunt
FLINTSTONE - Joan Ann Hunt, 81, of Flintstone, passed away Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020, at Allegany Health, Nursing, and Rehabilitation Center.
Born Feb. 12, 1938, in Washington, D.C., Mrs. Hunt was the daughter of the late John M. Carter and Sylvia (Skinner) Carter. She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Hunt; and a sister, Peggy Williston.
Joan was a former employee of National Geographic and G.C. Murphy. She was a member of the Prosperity United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Women's Group. She was a member of the Branchville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the marching band. Joan enjoyed decorating cakes and loved crafting. She was very selfless and loved her grandchildren. Joan and her husband had one of those special bonds that only happens to a few.
Joan is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Wilbur "Sonny" Hunt; and her children, Michele "Missy" Cessna, Theresa Hunt, Kenneth Hunt and wife, Patti, and Jeffrey Hunt. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Andrew Cessna and wife, Amy, Brittany Cessna, Kristin Warnick and husband, Tyler, Toni Busbee and husband, Brandon, Lauren Hunt, Evan Hunt, and Steven Clark; as well as seven great-grandchildren. Joan is also survived by her brother, John Carter and wife, Peggy; and her sisters, Kathleen Carter, Effie Mowery, and Jean Bryant and husband, Rick.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, from 5 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Patricia Bittner officiating.
Inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital, Jude Tribute Program, Post Office Box 100, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Joy Nines and the Third Floor Staff at Allegany Health, Nursing, and Rehabilitation Center for all the care and compassion given to Joan, as well as to Miriam Graham and her husband, Dale, for all the help provided to Mom.
