John William "Bill" O'Neal, 80, of Ellerslie, went to be with the Lord Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born Dec. 14, 1938, in Cumberland, he was a son of the late Lillian "Sis" Kiser and stepfather, Earl L. Emerick Sr. Also, he was preceded in death by brothers, Gary Emerick and Earl "June" Emerick; brother-in-law, Ron Figard; and special grandmother, Barbara Kiser.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janet (Waltman) O'Neal, whom he married April 5, 1958; sons, Vincent O'Neal, Hyndman, Pa., Eric O'Neal and wife, Steph, Cumberland, and William "Billy" O'Neal and wife, Kelly, Corriganville; daughter, Barbara Leydig and husband, Gary, Hyndman; brother, Ron Emerick and Brenda; sisters, Gloria Jean Leydig and husband, Fay, and Linda Figard and special friend, Dennis; sister-in-law, Eileen Emerick, all of Hyndman; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Bill was an equipment operator at Black Diamond Energy. He was a life member of Kennells Mill Sportsmen's Club, an avid NASCAR fan, and former dirt-track race driver. He loved the Washington Redskins and Nationals. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home Inc., 169 Clarence St., Hyndman, on Monday, Nov. 18, 2019, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Rebecca Vardinam officiating

Burial will follow at Palo Alto Hilltop Cemetery.
