Hoover, Alabama - John Joseph Carney Jr., of Hoover, Ala., passed away on March 29, 2026. A respected PGA professional, John was born April 10, 1960, in Cumberland, Md., to John Carney and Mary Ann "Pollie" Carney, who predeceased him in death.
John is survived by his wife, Sara; children, Allison and Andrew; siblings, Mary Ann Jackson, Susan Becker and Gene Carney; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
John graduated from Bishop Walsh High School in 1978 and from Frostburg State University in 1982.
In lieu flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to Bishop Walsh School Golf Fund, 700 Bishop Walsh Road, Cumberland, MD 21502.
