Cumberland, Maryland - John Edward Davidson, 78, of Cumberland, Md., passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, due to complications from a lifelong battle with Alpha 1.

Born April 27, 1947 in Cumberland, Md., Mr. Davidson was the son of the late Harry Donald Davidson and Lucille (Siefers) Davidson. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his in-laws, Lou and Jane Riehl; a nephew, David Shriver II; his brothers-in-law, Tom Lyons and Bob Deffenbaugh.

John was a 1965 graduate of Allegany High School. He was a proud member of the United States Navy, where he served during the Vietnam War, and he was a life member of the VVA Chapter #172. He worked for 17 years as a boiler operator at Celanese Fiber and retired from the Brandenburg Center after 25 years.

John was an avid tennis player with the "Park Gang," and a lover of motorcycles and Corvettes. He also enjoyed pickleball and had bowled since the age of 14.

John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janet (Riehl) Davidson; his son, Kevin Davidson and friend Shannon Mosier; his daughter, Kristine Maslowski and husband Brian; his sister, Barbara Lyons; his sister-in-law, Peggy Deffenbaugh; his grandchildren, Jordan Davidson (Abbie), Chauntay Davidson (Tanner), Samantha Miller, Erica Davidson (Justin), and Piercelynn and Paxton Maslowski; as well as seven great-grandchildren, with one on the way in June.

A memorial service will be conducted at the Bedford Valley Bible Church, 3201 Reservoir Road, Centerville, PA 15522, on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11 a.m., with Pastor John Hollis officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to a charity of choice.
