Mt. Savage, Maryland - It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of John "Deedle" Charles Cessna on Oct. 23, 2025.
Deedle was born in Cumberland, Md., to the late Perry "Mick" Cessna and Aretta Mae (Pryor) Cessna on Nov. 22, 1945. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Robert "Ike" Cessna and Thomas "Butch" Cessna; and sisters, Betty Brant, Dorothy "Dottie" O'Baker, Shirley "Liz" Witt and Marlyn "Tink" O'Baker.
Deedle is survived by his brother, Danny "Boonie" Cessna (Kelly), and several nieces and nephews. Deedle was retired from the Allegany County Nursing Home, where he made many lifelong friends. He leaves us with a lifetime of memories, stories and his signature brand of sarcasm. A lifelong bachelor, he lived life on his own terms, took pride in his appearance and apparel, and enjoyed watching television — whenever and however long he desired.
Serious health problems altered the course of his life, but he remained resilient and good humored through it all. His greatest joy came from being surrounded and entertained by the little ones in the family, who include Kaylee, Lila, Ivy, Luke, Paisley, Everly and Waylon.
Deedle will be cremated, and there will be no services, per his wishes. Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, MD, www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com, is in charge of arrangements.
