Josephine Nelline Garlitz, 87, of Mountain Lake Park, passed away Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, at Oakland Nursing and Rehabillitation.

Born on Nov. 13, 1935, in "The Eddy", W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Samuel Joseph and Emily Amelia (Evans) Paugh.

Josephine was a proud homemaker, loved her family dearly, and was an avid bingo player.

She was a member of the Kitzmiller Assembly of God Church.

She is survived by four children, Rita Garlitz, of Mountain Lake Park, Terry Garlitz and wife, Jean, of Mountain Lake Park, Linda Shillingburg and husband, Paul, of Grantsville, and Tina Dawson and husband, Earl, of Kitzmiller; six grandchildren, Christa DeWitt and husband, Eric, of Mountain Lake Park, Deborah Fike, of Deer Park, Amy Fike, of Deer Park, Emily Fike, of Oakland, William Bircher and wife, Shawna, of Kitzmiller, Eric Shillingburg and wife, Natasha, of Grantsville; three step-grandchildren, Charlie Birchland and wife, Sherry, of Elk Garden, Jennifer Dalton and husband, Randy, of Oakland, and Scott Johnson, of Oakland; 15 great-grandchildren, Brandon and Julie Keefer, Johnathan and Kaitlyn DeWitt, Shawn, Zach and Abigail Beckman, Justin, Trenton, and Linzie Darr, Gunner Armstrong, Alyssa and Alex Sweitzer, Gracelynn Bircher, Andrew, Alura, and Brooklyn Shillingburg; two step-great-grandchildren, Noah and Bentley Birchland; two great-great-grandchildren, Parker Armstrong and Saffhire Rose Joseph; three siblings, Robert Paugh and wife, Waltraud, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Bernadine Evans, of Keyser, and Nolan "Bud" Paugh and wife, Gloria, of Deer Park.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Garlitz; three brothers, Leon Paugh, Jerry Paugh, and Leo Paugh; a sister, Velda Paugh; and a great-grandson, Brandon Beckman.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. Second St., Oakland.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. with Pastor Carl Fike officiating.

A reception will be held after the service at the Deer Park Community Center.
