Joy Rae O'Donnell Brown, 97, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, with family by her side.

Born on June 22, 1927, in Kitzmiller, Md., Joy Rae was the daughter of the late Terrence "Pat" O'Donnell and Alice June Bray O'Donnell. She was also predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Robert Sprague Brown; her sons, Robert O'Donnell Brown and Pat Charles Brown; her brother, Fred Downey; and sisters, Reba Yukon and Joan Raynovich.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary June King; daughter-in-law, Susan Brown; her four grandsons, David King and wife, Cathy, Sebastien Poutre, Daniel Brown and wife, Robin, and Matthew Brown. Completing her family were seven wonderful great-grandchildren, Hazen, Julia, Ava Marie, Ava Elizabeth, David J., Robbie, and Rose.

In years past, Joy enjoyed involvement in Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile.

Joy's greatest happiness was dancing. She often joked that she had "jitter-bugged" her way through high school. She had belonged to the "Never Too Late Girls" dance group for over 25 years. These ladies were her most beloved friends. Her dance partner, Edna Pisarcik, was her best buddy and friend.

A visitation for Joy will be on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, at C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 710 Church St., Kitzmiller, from 1 to 4 p.m.

A funeral service to celebrate Joy's full and well-lived life will be held on Friday, Jan. 31, 2025, at 11 a.m., in Mt. Bethel UMC, 257 E. Main St., Kitzmiller, with the Reverend Dr. Matthew Paugh leading the service.
