Swanton, Maryland - SWANTON [mdash] Judith Ann Kuhnle, 78, of Swanton, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2025, at her residence.

Born on Nov. 3, 1946, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late J. Stuart & Naomi (Grindle) Kuhnle. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Robert Derrick and Michael England, and companion, Gilbert Johnson.

Judith was a legal assistant for Derrick & Braskey Law Firm. She grew up in Westernport, and moved to Deep Creek Lake when she was nine years old.

She received her BA degree from Hood College, in Frederick, then went to work at the Bureau of Engraving & Printing in Washington, D.C., as a chemist. From there she became a legal assistant for Derrick & Braskey.

Judith volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, and enjoyed playing Mahjongg.

Surviving is a sister, Jeanne Nichols, and husband, Jim "Buckwheat" Stemple, of Aurora, W.Va.; and nephew, Christopher Nichols, and wife, Lisa, of Swanton; and Judith's beloved dog, Max.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Drive, Oakland, MD, on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025, from 1 to 2 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
