Cumberland, MD - Julia May (Hudson) Orndoff, 98, of Cumberland, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Sterling Care Frostburg Village.

Born March 10, 1927, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur Hudson and Ethel (Bollinger) Hudson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Melvin Orndoff; son, Gary Edward Orndoff, who was a Vietnam veteran; and brothers, Richard Wayne Hudson, Lester Hudson, Robert Hudson, the Rev. Calvin Hudson, Gerald Lee Hudson, Eugene Hudson, and Ronald Hudson; sisters, Dorthea Snyder, Veva Davis, Clara Dimmick, Julia's twin, Elizabeth Hudson; and three infant sisters.

Julia attended Fort Hill High School. She worked as a printer at Christopher Photo Lab, and she volunteered her time to the Thomas B. Finan Center. Julia was a member of the Bedford Road Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a Baptist church in Cumberland. She was an avid reader, who always had a book in her hand. Wherever she lived, Julia took great pride in her lawn and flowers, which she cared for religiously.

Julia is survived by son, Rodney Louis Orndoff and wife Kathy, North Carolina; grandchildren, Michael Orndoff, Hagerstown, Md., and Shelby Elizaga and husband Nick, Seattle, Wash.; great-grandchildren, Sophie Orndoff, Hagerstown, Md., and Luisa Elizaga, Seattle, Wash.; sisters, Leta Rae Neus and husband Charlie, Cumberland, Md., Maxine Dorr and husband Ray, Missouri, and Diane Hudson, Cumberland, Md.

In accordance with her wishes, Julia's body was cremated. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, from 12 to 1 p.m. A memorial service will immediately follow at 1 p.m., with Pastor Seth Wharton officiating.

Inurnment in Sunset Memorial Park will be private.
