Fort Ashby, WV - Kathleen "Kathy" Scully Brockett, 74, passed away suddenly in her home in Fort Ashby on April 10, 2026. A person of deep faith and tireless community spirit, Kathy leaves behind a legacy of dedication to her family, her church and her community.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., on May 11, 1951, she was the daughter of the late John "Jack" Scully and Margaret Elizabeth "Betty" (Rush) Scully. After graduating from Bishop Canevin High School and attending Pennsylvania State University, Kathy lived in Oakland, Md., before settling in Fort Ashby in 1980.

Kathy enjoyed a successful career in information technology with the Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. Following her retirement, she continued to apply her sharp mind and organizational skills as the secretary and bookkeeper for Annunciation of Our Lord Catholic Church. A longtime parishioner, Kathy was known for her "extra mile" work ethic and the quiet pride she took in supporting her community and faith.

Beyond her professional life, Kathy was a cornerstone of Fort Ashby's civic organizations. She was a Trustee of the VFW Auxiliary (Post #6667), an active member of the Fort Ashby Lions Club, and a faithful volunteer for Red Cross blood drives. At the time of her passing, she served as president of the Frankfort Area Food Pantry, a role that reflected her lifelong commitment to helping those in need.

Kathy's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Ronald "Ron" Brockett; her children, Kevin Brockett (wife Alice Morgan) and Maureen Tatman (husband Jon Tatman); and her cherished grandchildren, Savannah Calvin, Rodney Calvin Jr. and Harlee Tatman. She also leaves behind her siblings, Michael Scully, Mary Anne Blice, Margaret Mary "Peggy" Scully Nevitt and Mark Scully; along with several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at Upchurch Funeral Home, Fort Ashby, on Wednesday, April 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be held at 6:20 p.m., followed by the Fort Ashby Lions Club memorial at 6:30 p.m. and VFW Auxiliary memorial at 6:45 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Annunciation of Our Lord Catholic Church on Thursday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Daniel Price, celebrant.

Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Canonsburg, Pa., on Friday at 11:30 a.m.
