Kathryn Elaine Muir
Kathryn Elaine Muir, 85, of Old Beechwood Road, Lonaconing, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2019, at Egle Nursing Home.
Born on Oct. 15, 1933, in Lord, she was the daughter of the late Joseph O'Rourke and Kathryn (McKenzie) O'Rourke.
She was preceded in death by her son, Dan Muir; and a niece, Sue Ann Nightingale.
Elaine was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Midland, and a member of the Catholic Daughters. She was a graduate of Central High School and Sacred Heart School of Nursing. She was very proud of her nursing career and her Irish heritage. Her faith, family and friends were most important to her. A proud member of the Pink Ladies, she was an avid supporter of cancer awareness. Elaine was the happiest when the family was all together, and we have lots of fun memories.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Jim Muir; six children, Jim Muir and wife, Sherry, of Virginia Beach, Va., Maureen Dye and husband, Butch, of Lonaconing, Ed Muir and wife, Robin, of Bowie, Mary Ellen Turner of Lonaconing, Kathy Foor and husband, Tom, of Bedford, and Joe Muir and wife, Janine, of Hurlock; 13 grandchildren, Jimmy, Jesse, Jordan, Angie, Janel, Kate, Jennie, Matthew, Kristen, Kathi Jo, Michael, Jacob and Mackenzie; 11 great-grandchildren, Jay, Quentin, Owen, Kailani, Clover Elaine, Issac, Garrett, Skylar, Sydney, Alyas and Maylin; sister, Tillie Rivenbark and husband, Dave, of Suffolk, Va.; nieces and nephew, Penny, Christy, Diane and Mike; and wonderful neighbors, Jim and Betty Lou Winner.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Midland, on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019, at 11 a.m. with Father Ed Hendricks as celebrant. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
Memorial donations can be made in memory of Elaine to a charity very dear to her heart, the American Cancer Society Pink Ladies, c/o Maureen Dye at 15803 Rockville Street, Lonaconing, MD 21539.
