Keith Dale Brelsford, 65, Cumberland, departed this life Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022, at UPMC Western Maryland.
Born on April 30, 1956, in Cumberland, he was a son of Patricia E. Brelsford-Moore of Short Gap, W.Va.
A graduate of the 1974 Class of Fort Hill High School, he worked throughout his years in the automotive field as a mechanic and machinist, providing service at Home Auto Sales, Automotive Supply, and Cook Brothers Automotive, and often referred to as the "parts" guy.
His knowledge and interest in mechanics led to many hours of intellectual work on inventive ideas.
He enjoyed such leisure activities as playing pool and horseshoes, where he would often join leagues, spend time with numerous friends, and share a drink, throw darts, and quiet evenings at home playing cards.
Keith once was an adventurous man, enjoyed walks in the woods, traveling, and long drives to nowhere in particular.
Known by many friends as "Tweet", his love of music would, at times, have him dancing across the floor like a "Freebird".
Some of his favorite musical artists were Bob Seger, The Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and especially Pink Floyd.
He was preceded in death by brother, John R. Wertz.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Patricia; wife, Teresa "Terry" Brown-Brelsford; children, Brandy Brelsford-Kerth, Tampa, Fla., Jason Brelsford, Panama City, Fla., Courtney (Jonathan) Messenger, Smartsville, Calif., and Alexander Brelsford, Tampa;
stepchildren, Ashlie Massey, West Virginia, Shannon (Eric) Sowards, Tennessee, Aaron (Heather) Brown, Maryland; grandchild, Skyler Baker, St. Petersburg, Fla.; step-grandchildren, Colton and Kaden Sowards, Gabby and Sadie Keseckner, Erin and Kyleigh Brown; step-great-grandchildren, Avia and Graesyn; brother, Phillip Wertz, Short Gap, W.Va.; sisters, Melanie (Wayne) Shilling, Short Gap, and Donna (William) Self, Bumpass, Va.; nephews and nieces, Levi, Lacy, Keira and Kyle; mothers of Keith's children, Vickie Brelsford and Julie Messer; Keith's "buddy" and true companion that stayed by his side, his cat, Floyd.
Keith was cremated per his wishes.
Celebration of Life with his family and friends will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are by M. Ray Leckemby Funeral Home, 203 North St., Meyersdale, PA 15552. mrayleckembyfh.com.
