Short Gap, WV - Larry N. Knotts, 85, of Short Gap, W.Va., died Jan. 6, 2026, at Meadow View Nursing Center, Berlin, Pa.
Born Jan. 2, 1941, in Eglon, W.Va., he was the son of the late Milton Dale and Lillian (Harsh) Knotts.
He was also preceded in death by a grandson, David Knotts; and a sister, Twila Wotring.
Larry had attended Bridgewater College prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army.
He served from 1961-1964. Larry was an expert (rifle M-14), sharpshooter (rifle), and recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. He retired from Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation, having been a land agent.
While living in North Carolina, he and Donna joined New Hope Presbyterian Church in China Grove. Locally, Larry was a member of the Short Gap Lions Club and the Fort Hill Rifle & Pistol Club.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Donna Faye (Miller) Knotts; three children, Gregory Knotts and wife Barbara, Suzanne D'Atri and husband Michael, and Heather Boggs and fiancé Vance; his sisters, Shirleen Hinsche, Marilynn Deegan and Anita Lantz; lifelong friend and cousin, Don Harsh; grandchildren, Jesse, Emily, Dylan, Lydia, Katie and Trevor; several loving great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., Cumberland, on Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., with Pastor Bruce McBride officiating.
Interment will be in Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap, where military honors will be accorded by Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard.
