Keyser, WV - Leoda Fern Cox, 102, of Keyser, W.Va., passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at the Keyser Healthcare Center.
Born on March 16, 1923 in Petersburg, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Jasper Allen and Rella Rebecca (VanMeter) Kimble. Twice married, she was preceded in death by both husbands; Thomas A. Carr in 1948 and George W. Cox on February 5, 2025; a son, George A. Kimble; a daughter, Margaret J. Sargent; two grandchildren, Robert A. Carr and Paul Keith Carr; a great granddaughter, Brook Fern Donahue; three sisters, Joy Alt, Hazel Kile and Louella Harbaugh; four brothers, Arnold, Wesley, Henry and Ray Kimble; two stepsons, Donald and Michael Cox; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Carr.
Mrs. Cox was retired as a nurse's aide with both Pulliam's Nursing Home and Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home. She was a member of Cornerstone Ministries in McCoole, Md.
Surviving are her children, Paul Carr of McCoole and Debbie Rinker and husband Mike of Keyser; a stepson, Craig Cox and wife Barbara of Keyser; a daughter-in-law, Alice Kimble of McCoole; a son-in-law, Durwood Sargent of Bow, N.H.; eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren and step grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 12 until 2 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted immediately following the visitation at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jack Bowers officiating.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
