Lester Leroy "Skip" Clifford Jr., 86, of Piedmont, W.Va., passed away, at his home, on Monday, Dec. 12, 2022.

Born on Feb. 20, 1936, in Piedmont, he was the son of the late Lester Leroy Sr. and Arizona (Redman) Clifford.

Lester was a graduate of Piedmont High School. He retired from Westvaco, where he worked for over 40 years.

He was a member of the First Church of God in Christ. Lester previously held the position of vice president for Luke Local 676 UPTIU and was a member of the Tri-Town Lion's Club. He enjoyed fishing and when he was younger, hunting. He served as the mayor of Piedmont for a period of time, as well.

He is survived by seven children, Leslie Dawson, of Keyser, Tony Clifford and wife, Cynara, of Staunton, Va., Lester Clifford and wife, Alisa, of Keyser, Scott Clifford, of Cary, N.C., Timothy Meade, of College Park, Robin Woods, of Cumberland, and Nikisha Diehl, of Ashburn, Va.; 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Roslie Twyman, of Piedmont, and Donna Jean Mobley, of Philadelphia, Pa.; and a special friend, Christine Clay.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Adrian (Vauls) Clifford.

Friends will be received on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Fredlock Funeral Home, 31 Jones St., Piedmont.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 19, 2022, in Trinity United Methodist Church, 34 Jones St., Piedmont, with Bishop Clyde Brown officiating.

Interment will follow in Potomac Memorial Gardens.
