Jacksonville, FL - At the age of 82, Linda Firlie Martin passed away peacefully on Oct. 22, 2025, in Jacksonville, Fla. Born in Frostburg, Md., Linda lived a life marked by kindness, resilience, hard work and unwavering devotion to her family and community.
Linda was predeceased by her parents, Allen and Mary Minnick; her sister, Susan; brother-in-law, Ray; and nephew, Wayne Moyers; and her dear brother, David Minnick. She is survived by her sister, Lorraine; and nephew, Jessie Moyers.
Linda was married in 1963 and predeceased by her former husband, Michael Firlie. Together, they had four sons. Tragically, Linda was predeceased by her beloved son, Brooke Firlie.
Linda is survived by her sons, Brian Firlie (his wife Mindy Davis), Bruce Firlie, and Brad Firlie (his wife Anita Walia); as well as seven cherished grandchildren, Jacob Firlie, Luke Firlie, Daniel Firlie, Brenna Firlie, Brandon Firlie, Vivianna Firlie and David Firlie.
For more than three decades at CSX Railroad, Linda held a variety of positions in Cumberland, Baltimore and Jacksonville. Her career was marked by commitment and versatility until her retirement in 2015. Prior to her time at CSX, she worked at Old Town School, where her warmth and dedication touched many lives.
Linda was transferred to Jacksonville in 1991, where she met William Martin. They married in 1992. For 33 years, Bill remained a devoted husband, caring for Linda through her final days. He will sorely miss her.
Linda was known for her gracious spirit, unwavering selflessness and quiet perseverance. She had a remarkable gift for seeing the good in others and always putting their needs before her own. Her laughter, sense of humor, lively conversations and genuine smile are unforgettable. Linda's legacy of kindness and support will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. It is a profound privilege to have had her in our lives.
