FROSTBURG [mdash] Linda Diana (Grabenstein) McKenzie, 70, of Frostburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 23, 2024.

She was the daughter of Robert James Grabenstein and Ruth Virginia (McCormick) Grabenstein, of Frostburg, who both preceded her in death.

She is survived by one brother, Robert Joseph Grabenstein, Frostburg; and one daughter, Laura Ashley (McKenzie) Pingatore, and husband, Nicholas, of Frederick.

Linda graduated from Beall High School in 1972, and in 1975, graduated from Allegany Community College's nursing program. She would spend the next 44 years of her life dedicated to helping others as a nurse and administrator.

Linda served several different roles in Allegany County throughout her lifetime. Beginning as staff and Intensive Care (ICU) nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital, then moving to home health care nursing and team leadership with Sacred Heart/Western Maryland Health System, as the hospitals consolidated. She next transitioned to community health and wellness, with WMHS Wellness Center; and finally, Director of Nursing, at Allegany Health Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, from which she retired in 2019.

Outside of work, Linda's greatest pleasure in life was spending time with her close friends and neighbors. Whether it was annual trips with "The Ya-Ya's," monthly dinners with "The Coney's," casual conversations with Braddock Estates neighbors, or much anticipated lunches with best friends from high school, college, and beyond, Linda was in her glory.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025, at 11 a.m., at Saint Michael's Catholic Church, 44 East Main Street, Frostburg, with Father Ed Hendricks officiating. Interment will be in Saint Michael's Cemetery.
