Loretta May (Phillips) Abe "Together Again" Obituary

Silver Springs, MD - SILVER SPRINGS [mdash] After a much loved and happy life, Loretta May Phillips-Abe passed away surrounded by family, June 17, 2026.

Born on July 21, 1935, she grew up on Silver Street in Ridgeley, West Virginia, just a stones' throw across the Potomac River from Cumberland.

She had an open- minded, intelligent, and informed mother, Regina Collins. Her stepfather, Dan Collins, was a kind and hardworking man. She had eight brothers and sisters, in a merged family.

Loretta was happily married to her high school sweetheart, Ron "Shot" Abe, for 65 years and they traveled through life with laughter and love.

Ron predeceased Loretta in 2022. They have four children and seven grandchildren, all of whom recognize that Ron and Loretta were two very special human beings. They were much loved and respected for being who they were.

Mom expressed to everyone she spoke with this past year that she had a very good life. Her liberal ideals were always evident, and she continued to hope for a better world. Loretta lived life on her terms until the end.

Her cremated remains will be buried with her husband in Abe Cemetery, Ridgeley, WV.

Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. is assisting the family.
