Louis Emerick Obituary

The Rev. Louis L. Emerick, 95, of 8507 Mapleville Road, Boonsboro, died Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village. Born June 30, 1926, in Eckhart, he was the son of the late Lewis S. and Maude Myers Emerick.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Rose Engle Emerick. He graduated from Beall High School in 1944, the West Minster Seminary at Western Maryland College, and Emory University.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S., South Pacific, and Japan.

During his ministry, he pastored the following churches: Grace United Methodist Church in Midland, Union Grove Church in Cumberland, Trinity United Methodist Church in Cumberland, Frances Asbury in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Washington Square United Methodist Church in Hagerstown, Glen Burnie United Methodist Church in Glen Burnie, and Fallston United Methodist Church in Harford County.

He did three years of home mission work.

He served as Chaplain at the Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Chapel at Fahrney-Keedy Home in Boonsboro for 15 years.

He served on various committees at the United Methodist Baltimore Conference.

He is survived by three nephews, Paul Engle, the Rev. Craig Emerick, and Stephen Emerick; and one niece, Lori Winters.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Emerick and the Rev. Samuel Emerick; one sister, Hazel Wright; and three nephews, Louis Wright, David Wright, and John Emerick.

A viewing will be held at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown, Sunday, March 13, 2022, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 802 Summit Ave., Hagerstown, Monday, March 14, 2022, at 10 a.m. with graveside services in Eckhart Cemetery, Eckhart, at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Services will be officiated by the Rev. Randall Reid and the Rev. Mark Brooks.
