Cumberland, MD - Lyla Bay (Murphy) Holliday, 96, of Cumberland, Md. passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Allegany Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born March 6, 1929 in Long Stretch, MD, Mrs. Holliday was the daughter of the late William Murphy and Cora (Rinker) Murphy. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years; Jack E. Holliday, 2013; her granddaughter, Jamie Snider; a brother, Warren Murphy; her niece, Claudia Riley; nephews, Chad Malone and Shawn Mullaney; and her brothers-in-law, Wilford Crowe, Edward Mullaney, and Claude "Dusty" Durst.

Lyla was a Graduate of Grantsville High School, Class of 1946, and also graduated from Cathermans Business School. She was formerly employed by Potomac Edison and with the Allegany County Election Board. Lyla was an active member of Davis Memorial Church and The Women of Faith. She was a member of the Union Grove Homemakers Club and volunteered at the American Red Cross. Lyla was an amazing mother and grandmother. Her family was her life, never missing an event.

Lyla is survived by her son, Dudley Holliday and wife Doris; her daughter, Tracy Snider and husband James; her grandchildren, Travis Holliday and wife Mandy, Lindsay Holliday, and Zack Snider and wife, Miranda; her great-grandchildren, Landon and Addison Holliday and Adley and Hudson Snider; as well as her sisters, Corlista "Pat" Crowe, and Vera Mullaney; and her sister-in-law, Peggy Durst.

Friends will be received at Davis Memorial Church on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. A memorial service will follow at the church at 12 p.m., with Pastor Glenn Capacchione officiating.

Interment will be in Davis Memorial Cemetery.
