Cumberland, Maryland - Madeline (Mauzy) Boggess, 104, of Cumberland, Md., passed away on Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, at Lions Rehabilitation Center.

Born on April 23, 1921, in Flintstone, Md., Madeline was the daughter of the late Saul P. Mauzy and Gertrude (Mallow) Mauzy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Durward H. Boggess; a son, David Boggess; as well as her nine siblings. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Growing up in Flintstone and living amongst a large farm family, Madeline flourished. She married the love of her life, Dur, and moved to Delaware, working for the U.S. government. After the birth of their son, she dedicated herself to her family as a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Eventually, they moved to Fort Myers, Fla., where Madeline enjoyed boating and, most of all, fishing. In retirement, she and Dur traveled around the United States in their cherished Airstream trailer, discovering America, and had the privilege of visiting all the contiguous 48 states and Hawaii.

After Dur's passing, Madeline, at the age of 76, started traveling to Europe, making friends wherever she went. Madeline filled her life with fishing, traveling, playing the organ, reading, enjoying a good game of cards and family. She was a devoted Christian and a longtime member of LaVale Baptist Church.

Madeline is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, MD, www.adamsfamilyfuneralhome.com, on Monday, March 2, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon. A funeral service will begin at noon, with Pastor Jim Jeffries officiating.

Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Flintstone, MD, followed by a bereavement luncheon at LaVale Baptist Church, 1115 National Hwy., LaVale, MD.
