Westernport, Maryland - Margaret Ann (Gardine) Brinegar, of Westernport, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her home on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, celebrating 92 years of a wonderful life.
The family would like to extend of special note of gratitude to the UPMC Western Maryland Hospice team, who all demonstrated absolute care and compassion.
Born Jan. 14, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Jane Rose (Patrone) Gardine. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Thomas Lee Brinegar (2023); a son, Richard Thomas Brinegar; two brothers, George W. Gardine and Francis "SKET" Gardine; sister, Mary Gattens; and two infant brothers, James and Joseph Gardine.
Margaret was a homemaker who was an excellent cook and baker. Many holiday parties were celebrated in her home. She was Catholic by faith.
Margaret is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, who were also her caregivers, Melinda and Kevin Youngblood (he was like a son to her). She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Kim Brinegar of Keyser, W.Va.; and a special sister, Sara Jane (Gardine) Fazzalore and husband Sam of Keyser, W.Va. She was a proud grandmother of two grandsons who were a huge part of her life, Kevin Youngblood Jr. and wife Andrea of Shippensburg, Pa., and Brandon Youngblood and wife Tiffany of Blue Ridge, Texas. Margaret was blessed with five great-grandsons who she dearly loved, Karter, Jaxon, Benson, Porter and Jay. She is also survived by her estranged daughter, Janine Hutson, and son, James Haggerty, addresses unknown.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, from noon to 2 p.m.
A funeral service will take place following the visitation at 2 p.m., with Deacon Harold Bradley officiating.
Interment will be at St. Peter Cemetery, Westernport.
