Cumberland, Maryland - CUMBERLAND [mdash] Marilyn Jean (Day) Hite, 95, of Cumberland, Md., died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025, at the Country House.
Born Sept. 1, 1930, and raised in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Clarence James Day and Ora May (Leasure) Day. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold, in 1999; her daughter, Karen Sue, in 1955; and her sisters Virginia, in 1993, Dorothy, in 2007, Martha, in 2015, and Sharon, in 2017.
After graduating from Fort Hill High School, she attended Catherman's Business School. She worked as the librarian in the Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing and later was medical records director. She retired as purchasing director and director of material management at Sacred Heart Hospital in 1989.
Marilyn was a member of Cresaptown United Methodist Church, Cresaptown Eagles Auxiliary Aerie #2883, Women's Civic Club, Daughters of the Nile, Sheiks and Sheila's Social Organization, Women's Sports Club, and Chapter 2400 AARP.
Mrs. Hite is survived by her daughter, Patricia Liller, Romney, W.Va.; her son, Kevin Hite and wife Paula, Fort Ashby, W.Va.; grandsons, Joshua Liller and wife Patty, Knoxville, Tenn.; and Zachary Liller and wife Heather, Anchorage, Alaska; and a stepgrandson, Brandon Leheny, LaVale, Md. She is also survived by her sisters, Doris Miller, Frederick, Md.; and Carol Shewbridge and husband Dick, Cumberland; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, MD, www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com, on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, from noon to 2 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., with Pastor Tim Westrom officiating.
Interment will be in the Bethel Cemetery in Bedford Valley, Pa.
