Springs, PA - Mark Folk, 92, of Springs, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at his home surrounded by family.
Born March 26, 1933, in Springs, he was the son of the late Cleman and Lura Folk.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Beulah Mae (Engle); three daughters, Beverly (Richard) Critchfield, Melinda (Todd) Gibson, and Kendra Folk; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mark was a member of the Springs Mennonite Church and had served as a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent, and as an Elder throughout his life.
Mark loved his work in the family business, Keystone Lime Co. and Maryland Minerals. He was especially instrumental in diversifying into the blacktop part of the business in the 1950's. He never retired and was actively involved at work every day until his passing. He enjoyed talking with all of the employees, and getting to know each of them as close as family.
He enjoyed meeting with his colleagues at work, at breakfast, and throughout the community, often wishing them to "have a good day".
In community service, Mark served on the board of Somerset Rural Electric, Penn Alps, Meyersdale Hospital, Liberty Bank, M & T Bank, Somerset Co. Redevelopment Authority, and was co-founder of High Country Creamery.
Mark's favorite hobby was flying a small aircraft, and it was something he really missed when he wasn't able to do it any more. He often inspired younger friends to try the hobby for themselves.
Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, MD, on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, August 1, 2025, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Springs Mennonite Church on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Wes Bergen officiating.
