Cumberland, Maryland - Martin (Marty) Nial Watts Sr. died peacefully surrounded by his family on May 1, 2024, at the age of 68, in Morgantown, W.Va.
Marty is survived by his wife, Sharon Watts of 40 years; Mother, Laura Watts; Sister, Cindy Conrad; Children, Martin Watts Jr. and spouse, Joi, Brandy Haslam and spouse, Earl, Chris Clites and spouse, Amber, Ashley Wolford and spouse, Aaron, and Tiffany Watts; Grand-children, Kayla, Kaden, Jadon, Gavin, Mikayla, Drayke, Khloe, Graycee, Myleigh, Trinity, Alanna, Jaelynn. He is also survived by numerous extended family.
He is proceded in death by his father; Otis; Sisters; Debbie and Vicky. He is also proceded by numerous other aunts and uncles.
Marty was born on Aug. 12, 1955, to Otis and Laura Watts. He graduated from Ridgeley High School class of 1973. He grew up in Wiley Ford and worked at the Kelly, The Dairy, The Rail, LV's, and Lowe's.
His children remember him as a funny, supportive, loud and loving father who kept them laughing up until his final breaths.
Marty was passionate about WVU sports, Pittsburgh Pir-ates, and the Indianapolis Colts. He always cracked a joke if the opportunity presented itself and sometimes even when it didn't. He never took life too seriously and enjoyed spending time with his family. He overcame multiple injuries, surgeries, and heart attacks. Even in his last days of life on Earth, Marty wanted to make sure his family was okay and taken care of. He was a fighter. He fought until his very last breath.
A "Celebration of Life" will take place at Ridgeley Community Center on Monday, May 13, 2024, at 6 p.m. Marty spent his last 72 days in the hospital.
