Mary Louise Bach Rowles Obituary

LaVale, Maryland - Mary Louise Bach Rowles, aged 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Mountain City Care Home in Frostburg, Md.

Born on Dec. 30, 1931, in Schickshinny, Pa., Mary Lou grew up there alongside her two brothers, James and John. It was also in Schickshinny where she met the love of her life and future husband, Alton Richard Rowles.

They built their early life together in Pennsylvania, remaining there until 1971, when they relocated to Western Maryland. LaVale became home, where Mary Lou worked as a dedicated Realtor for many years. She possessed a true passion for her career, genuinely loving the process of helping people find the perfect home for their families. Outside of her work, Mary Lou found great joy in playing the piano and tending to her garden. She had a perfect life, lived perfectly.

Mary Lou's greatest legacy is her family. She is survived by her four children, Alton Richard Jr., Julie Kennell, David Rowles and Amy Shipley; and her grandchildren, Melissa Rowles-Wise Michelle Rowles, Christopher Kennell, Nicholas Kennell, Tiffany Mitchell, Claire Bollettieri, Maddison Vogel, Matthew Rowles, Olivia Rowles and Hallie Shipley. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alton Richard Rowles; as well as her brothers, James and John.

A celebration of Mary Lou's life will be scheduled for this fall, her absolute favorite season.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mary Lou's memory to Christ Lutheran Church in LaVale.

Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., is assisting the family.
