Romney, WV - With a heavy heart we announce the passing of our mother Mary Jane Cheshire, age 68, of Romney, W.Va., on Sunday, July 27, 2025 peacefully surrounded by her family and friends.

Born September 28, 1956 in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late William Keith Shaffer and Mary Ray Shaffer.

In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her loving husband, James Franklin Cheshire Jr (Jim Buck); her brother, Steven Scott Shaffer; her sister, Willa Rose Imgrund; and her infant brother, William Keith Shaffer Jr.

She is survived by her two sons, Issac Rose (Kathryn Rose) of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Richard Rose (Tara Rose) of Ranson, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Tristan Rose (Shannon Rose) of Hedgesville, W.Va., Brennan Rose (Emily Rose) of Hedgesville, W.Va., Elizabeth Rose of Ranson, W.Va., and Avery Rose of Ranson, W.Va.; her sisters, Carol Hott of Cumberland, Md., Angela Martell (Wayne Martell) of Hagerstown, Md., Beverly Leeson (Charles Leeson) of Cumberland, Md., Terry Sisk of Cumberland, Md., along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was a true animal lover spending many hours with her beloved pets. Some of her fondest memories were with her husband and friend Suzie, trail riding with their horses. She would often fill her days painting, potting flowers, poetry, and spending time outdoors in the Fall. She enjoyed spending time with her church friends and her sisters. She loved with all her heart her two sons and grandchildren, and will be missed by many.

Her family will host a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
