Cumberland, MD - Mary Ethel Ann (Knieriem) Patterson, 84, of Cumberland, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Allegany Health Nursing and Rehab.

Born Aug. 18, 1941, in Buffalo, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Ralph Andrew and Farol Marie (Stevens) Knieriem. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Ralph Knieriem Jr. and Gustave Knieriem.

Mary Ethel was graduate of Ursuline Academy. She went to Catherman's Business School.

Mary Ethel enjoyed sitting in the sun and spending time with her friends. She was an animal and music lover. Mary was a longtime member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Mary Ethel is survived by her children, Melissa Wegley and husband William, Stephanie Glaser, Kristin McKenna, and Natalie Patterson; grandchildren, Alexandra Kerr and husband Brian, Emily Wegley and husband Aiden McConnell, Olivia Wegley, Samuel Glaser and partner Caroline, and Jacob Glaser; and great-grandchildren, Locklen McConnell and Adelyn Kerr.

In accordance with her wishes, services will be private.
