Mary Pinto Obituary
Frostburg, MD - FROSTBURG [mdash] Mary Elizabeth (Hoban) Pinto, 99, of Frostburg, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, at Egle Nursing Home in Lonaconing. Born on June 5, 1927, in Cumberland, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Nellie Hoban.
Mary graduated from Saint Patrick's Girls Central High School in Cumberland. She was a devoted member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cumberland and later St. Michael's Catholic Church in Frostburg.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life and guided her through nearly a century of cherished memories.
Mary married Charles Pinto, with whom she shared a loving life until his passing. Together, they raised their family with love and devotion. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Charles Pinto; her son, James Pinto; her parents, Joseph and Nellie Hoban; and her brother, Joseph Hoban.
She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Kamauff (husband Steve) of Warfordsburg, Pa; and Kathy Lucas (husband David) of Flintstone. Mary's legacy continues through her grandchildren, Jason Thomas (wife, Michelle) of Frostburg; Kasey Wagner (husband, Jerred) of Cresaptown; and Sean Smith (wife, Tommi-Anna) of Westminster. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Charlie Thomas; Kane Allen; Hayden Wagner; Emmitt Smith; Wyatt Smith; and Collins Smith.
Mary lived a full and vibrant life enriched by her many passions. She enjoyed playing golf as a lifelong member of Maplehurst CC, and was an active participant in bridge and poker clubs, and the women's bowling league.
She loved the thrill of bingo nights everywhere and trips to Las Vegas. A fan of Big Band music and dancing, Mary found joy in its timeless melodies that brought back fond memories.
Known for her unwavering dedication to family, Mary always put her loved ones first. Her warmth touched everyone who knew her.
In accordance with Mary's wishes, she donated her body to the Maryland State Anatomy Board in Baltimore for medical research—a final act of selflessness that reflects the generosity she exhibited throughout her life. Her cremains will be returned to her family for a private interment alongside her beloved husband at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
Mary's memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace surrounded by the love she so freely gave during her lifetime.
