Ridgeley, WV - Mary "Irene" Spataro, 84, of Ridgeley, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025, at Mt. City Rehabilitation Center.

Born Oct. 2, 1941, to Richard Frances Connelley and Georgia Iris (Wilhelm) Connelley, she is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard Connelly; sister, Carol Connelly. Survived by John Thomas (Tom) Connelly and Michael James Connelly of Frostburg, Md.

Irene was a 1960 graduate of Beall High School and attended a designer school in New York. She was a very talented designer, working at Griffiths in Frostburg for over 29 years. Irene also worked at Georges Creek Floral Shop, where she retired.

Irene was very active in the Frostburg Garden Club and Soroptimist Club of Frostburg.

Surviving are her daughter, Amy Spataro-Hoover and husband Darrin Hoover; Mark Spataro and wife Brenda Liscinsky-Spataro; grandchildren, Nathan Hoover and Kayla Hoover, whom she was very proud of; and former husband, Anthony (Tony) Spataro Jr.

Irene was cremated in accordance with her wishes.

A Mass will be held at Divine Mercy Parish, St. Michaels, in the spring — her favorite time of year — with a one-hour visitation prior to the Mass and a celebration of life party afterward, TBA.
